
Professor Rose-Marie Belle Antoine

Professor Rose-Marie Belle Antoine, a prominent figure at UWI since 1989, notably pioneered the Master of Law (LLM) program at the Cave-Hill campus. Rising swiftly, she became one of UWI's youngest Professors in 2004 and served two terms as Dean of the Faculty of Law, St. Augustine. In 2021, she assumed the role of Pro Vice-Chancellor for Graduate Studies and Research. A highly accomplished scholar, she holds a doctorate from Oxford University in Offshore Financial Law and has provided consultancy to governments and international organizations. Beyond academia, she made history as the first Trinidad and Tobago national to serve as President of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights. Acknowledging her contributions, she received the Pioneering Caribbean Women Eminent Jurist Award in 2021. Appointed Pro Vice-Chancellor and Campus Principal Designate in 2022 for The UWI St. Augustine, Professor Antoine continues to shape academia and human rights advocacy.
