Assistant Professor of Sociology

Zophia Edwards is an Assistant Professor of Sociology at Johns Hopkins University. Her research and teaching interests include the following: Race and Racism, Labor & Labor Movements, Global & Transnational Sociology, Political Economy, Sociology of Development, Political Sociology, and Comparative & Historical Sociology. Specifically, she examines how working people shape state-building and long-term economic and social development in the Global South. Her publications have appeared in The Sociological Review, International Journal of Comparative Sociology, Political Power and Social Theory, among others.
