
Professor Encarnacion Gutierrez Rodriguez
Professor of Sociology
Encarnación Gutiérrez Rodríguez is a Professor of Sociology at Goethe University, Frankfurt/Main, an adjunct Professor in Sociology at the University of Alberta, Canada, and Visiting Professor in CRISHET, Nelson Mandela University, South Africa. She has been a Digital Senior Fellow at Mecila, São Paulo and specializes in culture and migration, advocating for decolonial critique in the German-speaking world. Among her many publications is the important book Migration, Domestic Work and Affect (2010), the recently published monograph Decolonial Mourning and the Caring Commons (2023) and her co-edited collection with Manuela Boatcă and Sérgio Costa Decolonizing European Sociology (2010/2016). She has also co-edited volumes with other notable scholars, such as; Creolizing Europe. Legacies and Transformations with Shirley Anne Tate, Decolonial Perspectives on Entangled Inequalities: Europe and the Caribbean with Rhoda Reddock and Migratischer Feminismus in der deutschen Frauenbewegung, 1985-2000 with Pinar Tuzcu.
