sociologist
Michael Burawoy is a sociologist who used to teach at the University of California, Berkeley. For many years he studied race and class in Southern Africa. He is author of The Color of Class on the Copper Mines, a study of the racial dynamics in early postcolonial Zambian. Of late he has been deeply embedded in the voluminous works of WEB Du Bois and contemplating the idea of Black Marxism. In between he worked in factories all over the world.
