He also teaches at the New York University School of Medicine. He received a B.A. in Africana Studies from Morris Brown College, and later pursued an M.A. and Ph.D. in Anthropology from the University of Chicago. Dr. Ralph's research integrates political science, economics, history, and medical anthropology through an explicit focus on debt, slavery, insurance, forensics, and incarceration. He has received fellowships such as the W. E. B. Du Bois Research Institute Fellowship from Harvard University, the Charles Warren Center Fellowship from Harvard University (Multimedia History &amp; Lit.) and ACLS Charles A. Ryskamp Research Fellowship.
