Professor Jerome De Lisle


  • Jerome De Lisle is Professor of Education Leadership and the current Director of the School of Education (SoE), The University of the West Indies (UWI), St. Augustine. He earned his Ph.D in Education in 1994 from The UWI with specialized multi-disciplinary training in educational psychology, sociology, administration, and curriculum development. From 1998-2005, he worked as Measurement and Evaluation Lecturer at the Centre for Medical Sciences Education (CMSE), Faculty of Medical Sciences, The UWI with responsibility for examinations and quality assurance systems. From 2006, on his return to the SoE, he has concentrated on the disciplines of educational administration, evaluation, and measurement. His current areas of research are educational equity, data use, and evidence-based policymaking. He has worked extensively with the Trinidad and Tobago Ministry of Education (TTMoE), the Accreditation Council of Trinidad and Tobago (ACTT) and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). He has published on issues in both K-12 and higher education in several regional and top-tier international journals, such as Journal of Educational Administration and Assessment in Education: Policy, Principles and Practice. Several of his papers are on in institutional quality and the student experience in higher education, including (1) “Institutional research as organizational intelligence.
