Prof. Sandra Abrams


Sandra Schamroth Abrams, Ph.D., is Professor of Adolescent Education and Director of the Ph.D. program in Curriculum and Instruction at St. John's University, N.Y. Abrams's research of videogaming, literacies, and pedagogies explores layered meaning making across digital and nondigital spaces. Awarded the St. John's University Excellence in Teaching and Scholarship Award and the Outstanding Achievement Medal, Abrams has received research and publication awards from the United States Distance Learning Association and from the Association for Educational Communications and Technology. Abrams is author/editor of more than 80 works, including 8 books and 6 special issues. Abrams serves on multiple editorial boards, and she is an Associate Editor for the International Journal of Multiple Research Approaches and a founding co-editor of the Gaming Ecologies and Pedagogies book series (Brill). Along with Tony Onwuegbuzie, Abrams is co-author of An integrated mixed methods approach to nonverbal communication data: A practical guide to collection and analysis in online and offline spaces (Routledge).
